Dublin is a hub of Irish culture. Because of the size of its population Dublin has the highest concentration of traditional musicians, singers and dancers in the country. Yet only a limited number of suitable outlets exist where these artists can perform and pass on their unique skills. Clasac has been developed as a recognised focal point in Dublin for enjoyment and excellence in our native traditions.

In 1994, members of the Clontarf branch of Comhaltas set up a committee to establish a new music centre for the north side of Dublin.

As part of the Comhaltas Meitheal programme, Clasac expands the already successful teaching programme of the Comhaltas Branch network in music, song and dance.

This project eventually came to fruition as part of the Comhaltas Development Programme in 2008, funded in part by contributions from the Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture.
